Problem of the Week - 3

July 10, 1997: Foliar Bacterial Diseases on Pumpkin Leaves

Foliar Bacterial Diseases on Pumpkin Leaves

Small brown to tan lesions appear on the leaves.

A closer view shows the spots become angular and are restricted by the small leaf veins. Later, these spots turn brown.
Some spots develop yellow halos and then merge together to form necrotic areas.

Early analysis indicates that this maybe Angular leaf spot. Another possibility is Xanthomonas which is a problem we have had before on gourds. Laboratory diagnosis is under way for a definite answer. Stayed tuned for the diagnosis.
